Protect Your Media with Hotlink File Prevention
Hotlink File Prevention (HFP) is a WordPress plugin designed to safeguard your media files from unauthorized access. By preventing hotlinking, HFP ensures that files such as images and PDFs can only be viewed on your website, enhancing your content's security. This plugin is especially useful for website owners who want to maintain control over their media assets and prevent bandwidth theft. HFP utilizes .htaccess rules in the wp-content/uploads directory to enforce this protection effectively.
Once activated, HFP integrates seamlessly into the WordPress media library, adding a simple checkbox feature for hotlink protection. Users can easily enable or disable protection for individual files, with a clear indicator in the media library showing which files are protected. Additionally, it is important to note that links set to “Open in new tab” will be blocked for files under hotlink protection due to WordPress's handling of such links.
